Thesis Title: Romantic to Dark Ecology: Reimagining place in contemporary British writing

My PhD research considers the legacy of Romanticism in the work of four 20th and 21st century British writers and poets whose work is marked by their provocative engagements with landscape.
I am currently looking at Tim Morton’s concept of “dark ecology” and other possible ways out of Romanticism (Badiou, Zizek, speculative realism, return to naturephilosphy) to explore poetry and prose of Alice Oswald, Iain Sinclair, John Burnside and Kathleen Jamie.
